New Years Resolutions

At this time of year, some people resolve to lose weight, quit smoking, get healthy, or ANY of a slew of other things that are good for you. But most fail within a month and give up because they didn't reach their goal. Some don't even make it two weeks before throwing in the towel. Others may only make it a few days, or even hours and they call it "Quits" for their new resolution.

If you could stick with it you will have success! Just hang in there! Even if you get off track for a short while, it's OK. Just get back on the path you started and you will eventually hit your goal! It's sometimes uncomfortable and makes you feel that you are not getting very far. But every little thing you have done to get to your resolution is better than NOT doing anything at all! Even if you "forget" or you choose to slip a little, it's ok. Just keep working towards that GOAL!

What does this have to do with creative advertising?

Think of your "resolutions" as "advertising plans." Like hopes for the new year! These don't always start in just January. These new journeys could begin in ANY month of the year. (Advertising planning takes more than just a New Years Eve promise to implement correctly) We are going to look at January for conversation purposes.

 

We just want to "better" ourselves in some way.

Make a REALISTIC plan for your goal. Stick with it. So let's say your goal is to increase market awareness by a given percentage point. Don't be unrealistic. Look at last year. Expect some growth, but push it to a higher level that you CAN achieve and then GO for it! Don't give up if you don't see immediate results! It takes time, commitment and dedication.

TIME - The problem is that we give up way too early and never let the plan get traction. We don't see results, so we give up, throw in the towel, or call it "quits" on a given advertising campaign or plan. You might be at the verge of seeing results whinch encourages you to continue your plan.

COMMITMENT - You MUST commit your budget and training to your goal. If you plan to spend x-amount, don't change before you get to the goal. You've made a realistic commitment through research and planning so stay with the plan! You have to continue to apply the proper amount of dollars in order to gain the results you need. It doesn't have to be a lot of money, just stay consistent. Be commited.

DEDICATION - If you are not dedicated to achieving this goal, you will not get there. You must be wholly commited to this purpose in order for it to survive.

 

This isn't like a gym membership, will power, or even support groups,...it's about making the choice to grow your business. Instead of physically DOING something, you simply have to socially  ALLOW something to happen! Once you have made the plan, the rest happens based on your ability NOT to quit!

 

The best thing about these resolutions?...Getting FAT is GOOD!
