Rolling Thunder Ohio

Rolling Thunder Chapters in Ohio

This is now a full “GO” and the date is set for 5.24.2020 as the first Rolling Thunder National Event in Columbus Ohio.

For the “Purpose”:People will gain awareness of our Prisoners of War (POW’s) and Missing in Action (MIA’s) from our U.S. military actions all around the World. This event will demonstrate the passion and care shared by friends, family and acquaintances of the POW/MIA.

For the Community:This event will result in an economic impact for Central Ohio by providing an influx of visitors that could eventually exceed a half a million people spending money and exploring what Columbus has to offer.

Why would motorcycles come to Central Ohio?We have the National Veterans Memorial and MuseumOhio has one of the highest level Motorcycle registrations in the country. (behind CAL and FLA)The American Motorcycle Association is here. The Motorcycle Hall of Fame is here. The Oldest Harley Dealer in the Nation (AD Farrow) is in ColumbusColumbus, Ohio is within a few hundred miles of 50% of the population of North America!

Rolling Thunder is an organized group with thousands of Motorcycle Riders (from Chapters all across America) that travel to Washington DC every year on Memorial Day Weekend to make an effort to draw attention to POW/MIA.

“Never Forget” is the call from the riders.

This event started in 1988 and has continued every year since. Until this year. The invite from Washington has been retracted and the event has lost its’ home.

Ohio’s 7 chapters got together to find resolve and offer the National Veterans Memorial in Columbus Ohio as a new “home” and positioning for Rolling Thunder.

Regional Veterans groups joined the charge to keep Rolling Thunder going. Strong support was gained from Central Ohio Civic leaders, Political officials, and NVMM staff.
